On 18th March 2016, we are holding an Empowering Parents Event. We have some great speakers, that will help you think about how parents can get involved and make a difference, both to the SEND community through Healthwatch and to your own child/young person, thinking about SMART Outcomes, and Aspirations. This is your chance to learn something new, and to see what the forum has been doing, what our plans for 2016-2017 are, and hopefully celebrate our charity status.
The AGM will be held at the Derbyshire Hotel, 10:00-14:00 and lunch will be provided. You need to book you place. please see the link for more details and booking information
The Department for Education has announced a new Independent Support fund which will be managed by the Council for Disabled Children (CDC).
The £30 million will be used to recruit and train a pool of ‘independent supporters’ – champions drawn from independent voluntary, community and private organisations – to help the families of children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) through the new legislation which comes into effect in September.
CDC will be overseeing the recruitment and training of the independent supporters.
